Think of a deer that has been walking for a very long time. It is tired, maybe it has been running from danger. All it wants is a stream of water to quench its thirst. In Psalm 42 that's how David describes His thirst for God: "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God." I want my soul to be so desirous for God that I will not go to any other source to find fulfillment because in the end, Christ is the only One who truly satisfies the soul.
