This afternoon Mom, Lydia, and I went wedding dress shopping! We knew it would be lots of fun, but also expected to be pretty worn out by the end of the day, and Lydia wasn't really sure that she would be able to find the kind of dress that she wanted. You see, Lydia is committed to wearing a modest dress on the day of her wedding (yes!). Do you know how few modest wedding dresses there are out there? It seems like every dress is either sleeveless/strapless, spaghetti strap, or too low cut.
Anyway, we set out on our adventure. Our first stop would be the Anonymously Yours consignment shop in Dallas. One of Lydia's sisters and both her sister-in-laws got their dresses there. Well, we walk in and see lots of wedding dresses at the back of the store. Lydia goes back there and starts the search while I looked for a light pink modest bride's maid dress (not easy!):). Lydia found a few dresses and found one WITH sleeves. It was the first one she tried on...gorgeous!!!! The long white dress sprinkled with pearls and lace all over it and capped off with beautiful lace sleeves made Lydia look like a fairy princess. Then, the train was added on to the dress. Oh my! That train is so long and filled with amazing bead work and lace! She tried on a few other dresses and then came back to the first one. A veil was added to her head and she looked like the perfect bride. She settled on that beautiful dress. I can't tell you what an amazing thing this is! God provided a modest wedding dress for Lydia, first thing! Isn't God good?
