Warning: Long Post Ahead!

Lots has happened since I last posted that yucky picture of cookies. They really are pretty good they just look terrible because of the Sepia coloring:) On Friday night my brother brought his family over and we ate and played. Below are some pictures of that night. On Saturday, Mom and I went to the State Fair of Texas with some friends. The friends we went with always enter lots of creative arts contests. Well, a few days earlier they had convinced me to enter the Youth Cooking contest. I entered the yucky picture cookies and a Lemon pound cake that I called "Wide-Eyed Lemon Pound Cake". I made it Thursday and it was a disaster! Part of the cake stayed in the bundt cake pan and part of it came out, the powdered sugar I put on the top went wacky and the sugared flowers that also went on the top wilted. It was so embarrassing to turn it in at the fair! All around there were these beautiful cakes and other impressive food creations. There I stood with my poor little lemon cake. Well, enough of a pity party. I turned it in and then Mom and I walked around the fair for a couple of hours while the food was being judged. When it was time to announce the winners we were back. There are different classes, divinity, chocolate cake, spice cake etc. When they got to the Pound cake class they announced the 3rd, 2nd and finally the 1st place winner. This is what the announcer said: "And our first place winner is a new contestant, Megan Truitt!" Really? What a shocker!!!!! I was so amazed and excited. My disfigured, wilted flower, wacky powder sugar lemon pound cake had won!

Thinking of pound cake makes me hungry:) I've always wanted to enter the cooking contest at the fair. Maybe when we return. Your niece and nephew are absolutely adorable:) They look so huggable. Congratulations Megan!!!! I am so proud of you for winning 1st place for your lemon pound cake!!! It looks delicious! I am so impressed. I have never known anyone who won anything at the state fair before! "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart" I know your desires are much bigger than winning a 1st place ribbon but He is concerned about the 'small things' too. Although I think 1st place in the TEXAS State Fair is pretty big! :) Keep seeking Jesus, sweet young lady :)
Oh, by the way, You were beautiful in your maid of honor dress! Love all the pictures too. You are a great photographer.
Love you!
