Finishing with a Bang

015-1

We may be leaving, but we're not letting that stop us from squeezing all the juice we can out of these two days we've got left.  We're doing stuff that you do on vacation: eating out, doing random things because you can, walking slow, walking fast, being silly:)  I have so much fun with my amazing parents.

016

Dad: the expert purse holder (believe me, he's done a lot of it these past two months).

Speaking of Dad, he's had a pretty rough day with the city buses.  It started on the way to church this morning.  He was sitting behind Mom and me just talking.  There was an older man sitting across the aisle from him.  All of sudden he started saying, "Do you have to be so rude?"  Dad realized he was talking to him. (What? my dad rude? ) Dad politely said,

"No, sir, I wasn't talking to you."

"Why did you call me a criminal?"

"Oh, no, sir, I didn't call you that"

"Then who were you calling a criminal?"

"No one sir."

I never heard Dad say anything about criminals...

Then, on the way back from church, we didn't have far to go so we just stood at the front of the bus.  Poor Dad was standing just a little too close to the door because when it opened at a bus stop it smashed his arm tightly between the glass and the door.  OUCH! (he didn't say that.)  He just stood there and patiently breathed through the pain while he waited for the driver to close the door...

Then there was the bus ride where the girl stepped on his foot...

Then there....

So, anyway, despite Dad's rough bus rides today, it's been fun!  We went to a Baptist church we've been to before and then had to do a couple of things in Bournemouth (including drinking Americano coffee...mmmm).  Back home for a nap for Dad (after his bus morning he needed it) and out again to the Quay for a walk along the docks and dinner.

So much color.

004

This is where they make huge yachts (they say most are bought by Saudi Arabian Princes.)

006

Lots and lots of boats.

Then, off to dinner:

010

When we walked into the restaurant there was a pianist playing pieces from The Phantom of the Opera, Sound of Music, West Side Story, etc.  The restaurant was actually a pub (pubs in England are very "family friendly"...not like bars in the U.S.).  Pubs serve big portions of traditional English food for a really good value...pretty tasty too. (By the way, all that food wasn't Mum's...we shared the veggies.)

012

017

See the black and white building?  That's where we ate.  Supposedly in the "Medieval style".

019

Behind me is Brown Sea Island.  A small island in the Poole Bay.  Never did make it there, but hear it's really beautiful.

Then, a desire was fulfilled.  One of those "I want to do that before I leave England" things.  Ice cream cones with a special chocolate stick in them are very popular here.  Tonight, Daddy treated me to one.  It was luscious.

Now, guess what we've started?  Packing!  Oh joy!  We don't leave until early Tuesday morning, but packing up two months of your life can take awhile.

So, I'm off to fill a suitcase!  Tootles.

Oh, your poor father!!! Is he ok? Did the nap help relieve his "boo-boos"?

U r packing 2? Oh joy. Isn't it so much fun? I know - not even close. I am sure it was fun packing to GO to England but it is not so much fun packing to leave, huh?

Hope you get to say goodbye to your new best friend - the chocolate lady!! :P

P.S. *First post dance*!!

Hey Megan! I know how you feel... it was no fun packing up to come back to the Philippines from our vacation. Not that we didn't want to come back, but that we didn't want to leave our relatives in Colorado and Missouri. We came back with almost twice the stuff we went with! Yeah, we did some major shopping ...
