I subscribe to the Voice of the Martyrs e-newsletter and my parents have supported a pastor through this ministry for as long as I can remember. I recently read that VOM would be sending out free Olympic prayer bands to those who wanted them so that we could be reminded to pray for the Christians in China during the Olympics. So, I ordered one...I'm assuming it's at my house but will find out soon. Today, I got another e-newsletter from VOM saying that the man who was the inspiration behind these bands has been arrested. Here's what VOM said:
Pastor Zhang “Bike” Mingxuan, known for traveling across China on a bicycle to evangelize, was arrested by Chinese police just two days before the Olympics began. Pastor Bike was the inspiration for the recent partnership between The Voice of the Martyrs and China Aid Association to create the Olympic Prayer Band.
Please pray for this warrior of the faith, his wife, and another pastor who were both arrested with pastor Zhang.
To order your Olympic prayer band click here (they now are costing $2 per band).
